What is your denominational affiliation? What are your doctrines and core beliefs?
Fellowship of Faith is an independent, non-denominational congregation. We chose this route because we seek to unite the best of various evangelical Christian traditions and denominations and remove ourselves from the politics and division that often accompany churches. Theologically, you can label our Lead Pastor a conservative, Wesleyan-Arminian, evangelical, Bible-believing Christian. We adhere to the historic, orthodox creeds of Christianity. We are part of the Willow Creek Association and we are a Purpose-Driven Church which are both large, well known, and respected movements within the evangelical Christian world. Please go to our Beliefs page to find answers to specific theological or doctrinal questions or feel free to write us with any questions not addressed by our website.
What is the Willow Creek Association?
Since 1992, the Willow Creek Association has been linking like-minded, action-oriented churches with each other and with strategic vision, training, & resources. It is not a denomination, but a resource and training partnership with each participating church operating autonomously from the others.
The WCA works to equip Member Churches and others with the tools needed to build prevailing churches everywhere in the world. Their primary desire is to inspire, equip, and encourage Christian leaders to build biblically functioning churches that reach increasing numbers of unchurched people – not just with innovations from the Willow Creek Association or Willow Creek Community Church, but with God-given breakthroughs with widespread potential from any church in the world. A key component of this God-honoring movement is to provide strategic vision and practical training, especially in the field of Christian leadership. More than 12,000 churches from 90 denominations and from 45 countries around the world are all part of the Willow Creek Association. Last year alone, more than 100,000 local church leaders, staff, and volunteers — from Member Churches and others — attended one of WCA’s conferences or training events. Membership in the Willow Creek Association, as well as attendance at WCA conferences, is intended solely for churches, ministries, and leaders who affirm and hold to an historic and orthodox understanding of biblical Christianity, including the Statement of Faith listed on our Core Beliefs page. This statement reflects a contemporary summary of the central doctrines in the Bible, which are also presented in the historic creeds of the Christian church. It is not exhaustive, but represents the irreducible minimum of what we consider the non-negotiable essentials of the Christian faith. Most churches I know of that use a band and modern worship music are
Charismatic/Pentecostal/Holiness/Rhema/Word of Faith churches? Are you?
No. We are an evangelical church with lively, modern music, but we DO NOT subscribe to all that the Modern Charismatic Pentecostal Movements teach and practice, and we DO NOT subscribe to the Word of Faith/Rhema theology. Do you have Sunday School for adults? We accomplish our Christian Education for adults through our Home Huddles program. These are small groups of 8-12 people that typically meet in member’s homes on various days of the week. Home Huddles provide opportunities for people to build lasting relationships with lifelong friends and opportunities to grow in their relationship with God through small group Bible study. You can locate a Home Huddle in your area going going to our Find a Huddle application. How do I become a member of Fellowship of Faith? We offer a two-week (4 hour) membership course, once each quarter, which will allow you to make new friends, check us out, see what we believe and understand our vision and leadership structure. If, after completing the class, you agree with where we are going, and you wish to join our fellowship, you can make application to the Vision Team and after prayerful consideration, we will welcome you with all the rights and responsibilities of a full member.
What are your worship services like?
We meet for worship every Sunday morning at both 9:00 and 10:30. The doors open at 8:30 a.m. where we serve refreshments from our coffee bar called THE WELL, open our resource center called THE SOURCE, and hang out with friends before the worship experiences. Our worship celebration experiences are designed for everyone to enjoy-especially if you’ve never been in church before. A typical service at Fellowship of Faith includes today’s music, dramatic and comedic presentations, cutting-edge videos, and a Biblically based, real-life, relevant message. Whether you’re a spiritual seeker or a committed follower of Christ, we’ll communicate the truth from the Bible in a way that’s easy for you to understand and apply to your daily life. We want you to leave our service feeling like you have connected with God. Pastor Greg frequently says: “I always pray for our first time guests. My prayer is that when they leave, they will feel like they know God a little bit better and love God a little bit more. I want to be a God connector for people.”
What are the people like at Fellowship of Faith?
Our guess is that you will find people who are a lot like you, balancing work, finances and family and feeling a little overwhelmed with it all sometimes. When you visit Fellowship of Faith, we promise you’ll meet friendly people who will help you find your way around our facilities and make you feel right at home. They’ll greet you with a warm smile, big handshake or hug, and a free continental breakfast. That’s right! Breakfast is on us! We offer a very casual atmosphere, so don’t worry about what you wear. Feel free to leave the tie at home and dress casually. Shorts, jeans and t-shirts are common sights at Fellowship of Faith, especially on our pastors! We’re much more interested in changed lives than fashion trends. After all, Jesus wore a robe and sandals when He went to church. We think God is far more interested in what’s inside you anyway.
What kind of programs do you have for kids?
Kids are very important to us at FOF and we have a lot of them. Children birth through 5h grade will experience programming that captivates their attention, challenges their thinking and inspires life-change as they take their first steps in following Jesus Christ. They’ve got their own place in our building called Kid Space!
We have trained, loving care givers who will care for your infants & toddlers in our Kid Space Nursery. Three and four year olds also have a blast in our Kid Space Pre-School.. For kids age 5years-5th grade, we offer the Kid Mania worship experience that runs at the same time as the adult service. Check-In times for are 8:45 and 10:15 a.m. After a time of worship together, with music, theatrical lighting and awesome video teaching, games and storytelling, kids breakout into appropriate age level small groups with their peers for a time of discussion and Bible study. Your kids will love Kid Space and they’ll have lots of company! Our children’s programs have dozens of kids involved every week, led by trained, loving teachers who are passionate about children’s ministry. Once a month, our family ministry promotes Kidding Around, an opportunity for FOF families to hang out together in a fun environment like bowling, skating, swimming and other great activities. Our kids also participate in various missions and service projects to help those less fortunate through our Kid Gloves program. So bring the kids; we’ll provide a safe and loving environment for them so they can have fun learning about God in a service designed just for them while you enjoy a service designed just for you. By the way, all our childcare and youth workers voluntarily submit to background checks and fingerprinting to be sure your kids are as safe and protected as we can possibly make them.
What kind of programs do you have for youth/teens?
We’ve also got a great Youth Program on Sunday mornings. We call it SURGE! Youth 6th-12th grade meet together for Straight Up worship, led by their own youth band. Then, using games and interactive discussions, they hear an age appropriate, real-life, relevant message from our Pastor of Life Skills, Jamie Sisson. Youth also get involved in service and missions through our Generation 4:12 program, and monthly go on many fun outings together including bowling, swimming, skating, paintball, concerts and more, though our Merge program.
So bring the teens; we’ll provide a safe and loving environment for them so they can have fun learning about God in a service designed just for them while you enjoy a service designed just for you. By the way, all our childcare and youth workers voluntarily submit to background checks and fingerprinting to be sure your kids are as safe and protected as we can possibly make them.
